The thought of failing is quite scary, especially starting something new. Recently a co-worker and I were discussing failure and success in failing. This rings true in everything we put our time into, there is success in failure. With failure, we know how to correct our mistakes, we know how to pick ourselves back up, we know that failure is not the result. Today we are going to discuss failure, why you shouldn't be afraid of it, how to deal with it, and how to keep moving forward. This blog applies to whatever mistake that is bothering you, a test, a job interview, or for me, a bike injury.
1. You Shouldn't Be Afraid To Fail.
The thought of failing can be scary, especially in a sport. But, being afraid of failing isn't going to help you succeed, being afraid of failing will only discourage you from trying. Failing is unavoidable, take these mistakes to learn and grow stronger.
2. Acknowledge Your Mistake.
The only way to learn from your mistakes is to acknowledge them. But, don't puzzle yourself trying to find what went wrong. Accept that it happened, you can't go back and fix it, keep pushing forward.
3. Brush Yourself Off.
Whether the mistake is big or small, brush yourself off. You don't have to try again right away, but never let a failure prevent you from following your passion. It's okay to take some time to put yourself back together so long as you do not give up.
4. Remember That Failure is not the result.
It's natural to feel discouraged, or feel that you made a poor decision. Success is a slow process, mistakes are a part of learning. It's okay to give up, it's okay to say "I need time." You are the master of your journey. At the end of the day, the choice is yours. I hope you choose to push forward, But, choosing to step back or stand down does not make you a failure.
Summary.
Failure is a part of life. Making a mistake doesn't determine your odds of success. Forgive yourself and move forward.
